Hello there! I hope everyone has been well.
First I would like to share something with y’all that truly comes from a place of bringing change and love.
A good friend of mine is currently bringing up and hosting his own podcast called The youngLATINO Show (Which I really recommend you check out on Spotify!) to bring on guest speakers to share their experiences/paths about what they went through in order to get to where they are today, and so much more! I know, it was about time someone stepped up to do the work that’s needed! It gets even better, he asked me if I wanted to be a part his show and come on as a guest, which I eagerly agreed too! We spoke about lots of thing – from my personal story, to my experiences in college, and essentially my life goals – and I am honestly confident to say that Juan will get somewhere in this life, with the change that he wants to bring to young latino men and this world, there has to be more like us wanting to put in the work to see outcomes in the future.
Now this leads me to my question to you all. Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Don’t answer it yet. I want you to really think about it.
When I say where do you see yourself, first think to yourself, “how do I interpret that for myself?” Do you think about your career goals? Do you think about your relationship status? Do you think about your health?
Unfortunately, our attention is not drawn to the bigger picture. Yes, of course I would like to become successful, I would like to have my family, I would like to live a long and old age. Yet, despite not having just one of these, greatly affects one’s self. I guess the point I’m trying to make, and sorry for being overcomplicated, is the fact that we don’t think about our human self when we think about our future.
I feel it be necessary to help others understand that when I, personally, think about 10 years from now, I’m not only thinking how I want to be healthy, but understanding that I want to be healthy in order to live a long and prosperous life to see my family live and grow. It’s all interconnected.
It’s important to think about your overall health. It’s important to think about your mental health. It’s important to think about your emotional health. It’s important to take care of yourself, and most importantly, help your own self live a healthy life to grow and learn in this world we live day to day.
I practice this kind of self-awareness everyday. I feel like it’s important to see how your decisions will not only affect you today, but also tomorrow, in a week, month, year(s). This may sound dramatic, but I just want y’all to understand the potential everyone has, and that no one is ever in a position to tell you you can’t or shouldn’t or couldn’t.
My week has been well. It’s been raining a lot more over here. Today was the first time I actually ran outside while it was raining. My partner pushed me to do it, because she loves running in the rain. I have to say, it was rather nice. However, definitely cold. Would I do it again? Yes.
Life seems to be more like a routine now; wake up, go to work, be present at work, come back from work, make food, workout, read, go to sleep. Without my partner, my days would be a lot more dull and depressing. I appreciate her very much. I’m not boring or anything, I’d just rather invest my time into things that’ll actually bring significance to my life and help me get to where I want to be in this life. Like today, if it wasn’t for my partner telling me to run, I honestly wouldn’t have made myself run in the rain, but she convinced me. What was stopping me? nothing. Who was stopping me? no one. Where else did I have to be? no where. Therefore, I concluded that I would run the 4 miles with my partner, even if it was pouring cats and dogs.
Other than everything else, I’ve been reading a lot more about philosophy, and business, it’s interesting how the two relate.
I called my dad this past week. It was good talking to him. My mom messaged me through facebook. Actually messaged me a couple times, saying things a mom would. I hope they are both well.
If what I talked about interested you, or would like me to touch on other topics, please feel free to comment, message, or email me and I would be happy to dive into other topics for my blog!
Today’s also one of my truly good friend’s birthday, who I consider like a mentor, brother, family. Happy Birthday bro.
Thank you all for reading! I might post within the week a blog with a few poems I’ve written to give y’all a sneak peek of a book of poems I’m in the process of creating. I hope y’all have a great week and continue to persevere in this life.
